Stanstead Flying High Academy holds community event for friends and families.

The newly named Stanstead Flying High Academy in Rise Park welcomed over 200 visitors into school, helping staff and children to celebrate their first school term operating under their brand-new name.

The event hosted a variety of stalls, a bouncy castle, an archery range and face painting for guests, and the children’s choir sang the Flying High Partnership song for the assembled crowd.

Tanya Smith is Head Teacher at the academy, and she said, “We have been part of the Flying High Partnership since 2017 and with the hard work of our children and staff, we feel we are truly flying high!

“We have made huge progress in the last few years, making our school the best it can be. Our staff team work tirelessly to provide the best education for our children, and we have made

significant investment into improving our environment for children to enjoy. We want the whole community to be proud of the school, and for children to be confident and aim high every day.”

Tanya said the celebration was an opportunity to announce their achievements and enthusiasm for the future. “What better way to make that known than incorporating ‘flying high’ into our school name, sharing the name of our successful partnership and our aspirations for all of our children. We hope our children, families and community members enjoyed the event. Our children are amazing and deserve the very best. We know that when they leave our school, they will be able to achieve anything!”

Pupil Alicia Wilkinson-Weeks, age 10, said she enjoyed the event. “I am very proud to be a pupil at this school, and for me it is the perfect fit. I think our new name, Stanstead Flying High Academy, is really good, and I am glad to say I was attending the school when its name changed.

“I would like to tell everyone I know how great this school is! Especially my friends’ families, because we have two great classes for the youngest children where they are taught everything they need to know. The younger children also have a really nice playground, -just like the older children! I will tell everyone how beautiful our school is!
